The Government of Sri Lanka has observed that some unauthorised agencies have offered services to overseas Sri Lankans with regard application for dual citizenship.
According to the administrative procedure on dual citizenship, applicants should submit applications only through the Sri Lankan Overseas Diplomatic Missions. The applications should be sent through a Sri Lankan Diplomatic Mission, to the Controller General of Immigration & Emigration of Sri Lanka together with relevant documents, authenticated by the Head of the Mission or a senior officer in the rank of Third Secretary or above in the foreign country in which the applicant has acquired citizenship/ permanent residency.
Kindly note that the Government of Sri Lanka has not appointed or authorised any agency, agent or representative/s to assist in dual citizenship applications in whatever manner. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Sri Lanka and/ or the Department of Immigration and Emigration of Sri Lanka shall not assume any responsibility of the applicants engaging in irregular practices with unauthorized agencies, agents or representative/s said to be involved in the process of dual citizenship applications.
