The Australia Sri Lanka Council Inc. the premier business council in Victoria promoting bilateral relations between Australia and Sri Lanka, held its Annual General Meeting on 11th September 2017 at the International Chamber House at 121 Exhibition Street, Melbourne.
The Chairman for the meeting Mr. Mani Seneviratne and founding Chairman, and Chairman of the Council for 20 years, former Diplomat, Mr. Michael Coultas OAM , welcomed the gathering. The Hon. Consul General for Sri Lanka in Melbourne, Mr Prasanna Gamage addressed those present, on the need for promotion of education in Sri Lanka and the dire need for English Education. He invited organizations such as the Council to assist in any way that they can and pledged his assistance. His address was comprehensive and very informative and was very well received by the gathering.
Mr Ralph D’Silva CEO of Ralph D’Silva Holden, Preston, addressed the gathering next. His address was very inspirational and motivational. He described how he succeeded in his endeavors in setting up business in Victoria having arrived in Melbourne as an emigrant with a suitcase and an insignificant amount of money. He said that Australia gives one a ‘fair go’ and he has found it to be the best country to live in.
