The Department for Registration of Persons is to implement regulations on Sri Lankan nationals taking the National Identity Card (ID) with them when going on long trips overseas.

Commissioner of the Department, R. M. S. Sarath Kumara told the Colombo Gazette that since the National ID card is in Sinhalese and Tamil it will not serve any purposes overseas.
