On Thursday, National Cabinet agreed to a set of principles to manage schools during the coronavirus pandemic — which included the fact education may need to be delivered through flexible options such as online learning.
However it also recognised education was “best delivered by professional teachers to students in the classroom, on a school campus”.

Premier Mark McGowan said now the principles had been decided nationally, the state could finalise how it planned to deliver term two — with school holidays set to end on April 28.
“Our final approach for term two will be informed by expert public health and education advice,” Mr McGowan said.
“It will be careful, considered and cautious.”
