Col. Rathnapriya Bandu who won the hearts of many Tamil young and old men and women, including the rehabilitated ex-LTTE cadres during his time at Commanding the Civil Defense Force in Vishvamadu is contested the General Election from SLPP from Vanni District but not elected.
The emotional scenes witnessed at Col. Rathnapriya Bandu’s farewell with people in the North lamenting his departure made headlines in national media.
The extraordinary farewell given to him by the people in Vishuamadu in 2018, which was an LTTE stronghold in Kilinochchi, went viral on social media, giving a shocking surprise to all.
However controversual former MP Reshard has got elected in 2020 as well.
